QRadar NGSIEM

SIEM centralizes and analyzes security data from organizational sources, detecting threats and generating real-time alerts. It aids in compliance, offers monitoring dashboards, and can automate responses to incidents. Essential for proactive security and timely incident handling.

My role

Within SIEM, specifically focusing on our application, I played a crucial part in enhancing the user experience. My primary task was to identify and analyze experience gaps meticulously. To address these, I developed targeted features and meticulously crafted journey maps for each current persona, ensuring a tailored and comprehensive user experience.

Understanding the importance of informed decision-making, I worked closely with subject matter experts. This collaboration was pivotal in aligning our research efforts, enabling us to understand user needs and expectations deeply. This partnership ensured that our developments were innovative and grounded in real-world user scenarios.

Once the journey maps were complete, they served as solutions and strategic roadmaps to bridge existing experience gaps. I focused on creating a seamless and integrated user experience across the QRadar platform. This foresight was instrumental in evolving the application into a more holistic and user-friendly ecosystem.

My role

Focusing on designing intuitive features that not only met but anticipated user needs. A significant part of my responsibility involved aligning product roadmaps to ensure a coherent and strategic development path. I delved into understanding the backend engines that power our systems. This deep dive was crucial for recognizing and respecting the limitations of our current technology. Understanding the backend allowed me to craft designs that were innovative and realistically implementable within our existing framework.

A key focus when designing was on scalability. I worked to ensure that the features designed could grow and evolve with the changing demands of our users and the industry. This foresight in scalability was about creating solutions that were effective in the short term and viable and relevant in the long run.

Additionally, I played a pivotal role in redefining the system's information architecture. By meticulously aligning the information hierarchy, I ensured that the user experience was intuitive and that users could navigate and interact with the system efficiently and effectively.

Leadership and mentorship were also integral parts of my role. Leading designers, I fostered an environment of innovation and continuous improvement. I also took on the responsibility of coaching team members and sharing insights and strategies to enhance their skills and the overall quality of our work.

Figma Initiative and Design Libraries

My role

Within IBM, I was important in elevating our design processes and enhancing the overall design experience. I led the development of comprehensive design systems across various fidelity levels low, mid, and high. This endeavor involved creating visually appealing and functional designs and ensuring their adaptability across different stages of the product development process.

Collaboration was also a cornerstone of my role. I had the opportunity to sit in with the IBM Figma board, an experience that allowed me to assist in building IBM's design systems with broader organizational goals and scale them effectively. This collaboration ensured that our designs were innovative and in sync with IBM's strategic vision and user needs.

A key aspect of my work was building and refining components for the design system. I focused on setting a structured approach to component layering, which is critical for maintaining consistency and scalability in design. This structure helped create a more streamlined and efficient workflow, significantly enhancing the design team's productivity.

I constantly sought innovative ways to build components, embracing modified techniques that improved our designs' aesthetic and functional aspects. This continuous learning and adaptation ensured that our design systems remained cutting-edge and user-centric.

Furthermore, I had the unique opportunity to work exclusively with Figma. In this capacity, I contributed to testing and providing feedback for Figma to build features for the application. This experience honed my skills and deepened my understanding of scaling and managing a design system.

In mentoring designers, I emphasized structured guidance to enhance their proficiency in Figma. By sharing insights, best practices, and innovative techniques, I helped our team unlock the full potential of Figma, leading to more efficient and effective design processes.

Overall, my experience at Figma was characterized by a deep engagement with the technical aspects of design, collaborative efforts to align and scale our systems, and a commitment to mentoring and team development, all of which were instrumental in driving forward our design capabilities.

Carbon Design System

I was given the opportunity to be an early adopter of Figma and assist to build IBM's Carbon design system. From this project I worked on a small team to be individually handed components to build for IBM's design system library.
